Fort WIlson Riot: Love Song for Mabee Burlyingham (Pieces of the War Pt. 1)

For those of you who are Daytrotter devotees, this band was featured on today’s session. 15 seconds into my first listen of the session I felt inclined to venture into their bandcamp and buy the newest album. I have been in a Decemberists mood lately, so this came at the perfect time.

Fort Wilson Riot is comprised of Jacob Mullis and Amy Hagers in some really folky theatre indie rock. In fact their last album came in the form of a rock opera in which there was an entire cast of actors brought to their shows. Predator/Prey is a little more stripped down now that the band had gone to only two members, but still is very comsuming with epic buildups and powerful themes. Here’s the song “Love Song for Mabee Burlyingham (Pieces of the War Pt. 1)”.
