Kitten: Japanese Eyes

I love having 7” singles because they make you sit and listen to the song instead of, a habit that has plagued our generation, using it as background music for multitasking. With just one song on each side there isn’t enough time to get up and move around, you’re stuck waiting for the song to end. Another reason I enjoy getting out my 7”s is simply due to the fact that I have this great habit of impulse internet buying of random-ass records, which for the most part has worked out great since it has introduced me to a ton of great bands such as Breton and Oberhofer.

As I fumbled through my records today, however, I picked out one that I had only probably listened to once since it was the ultimate of impulse buys. The band is called Kitten and the song was Kill the light. Their sort of a garagier version of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs with the spunk of the Kills. Listening to the 7” again I was surprised as to how much I was enjoying what was coming out. After further investigation, I found out that they are playing here in Nashville at a show that I was already planning on going to at the Exit/In with Young the Giant and The Apache Relay (both of whom are fantastic and should also be checked out).

Anyways, here’s Kitten’s song “Japanese Eyes”. If you’re in Nashville on March 11th come check out the show.
